Kate Hogan was a young mother whose husband was an Army officer stationed at Fort Buford (1868) and Fort Rice (1870.)In these two letters she tells us a little about the joy of having their family grow with the births of two babies. Letters were the best way (perhaps the only way) of maintaining family connections with her sisters, mother, and aunts back in Indiana. The original transcriber has added some comments in parentheses.
