Summer Teacher Institute 2023

Join educators from around the state as they learn about how to implement National History Day in North Dakota, North Dakota Studies, and the Inquiry Design Model.

The Summer Teacher Institute will feature hands-on opportunities to learn how to develop and implement both history day and inquiry materials. The institute will be held in person July 24-27, 2023, at the Heritage Center & State Museum in Bismarck, ND. The content focus is the National History Day in North Dakota (grades 6-12), but participation is open to educators of all grade levels. Capacity is limited--register soon!

Registration Opens April 3, 2023

OBJECTIVES:

  • Explore strategies to engage students in your history classroom.
  • Teach students how to develop historical arguments and defend them with primary and secondary source evidence through the National History Day approach.
  • Participants develop and share their own materials with other educators.

  • Bring your own device (tablet or laptop) for the in person option..

CREDITS: 2 ($100)

COST:

  • $45 application fee for either the in person or online seminar options.
  • Apply for free until July 5, 2023.
  • Application Deadline: July 14.
  • Travel reimbursement available for eligible participants.
