Summer Teacher Institute 2023

A free teacher workshop, “E Pluribus Unum: History and Impact of German-Russian Immigrants to North Dakota,” will be offered July 24-27 at the North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum in Bismarck. The workshop will include visits to the State Archives, Welk Homestead State Historic Site, and stops along the German-Russian Country Talking Trail.

Participants will explore the immigration of Euro-Americans to North Dakota, with a specific focus on German-Russian immigrants, and learn about the push/pull factors that brought people here, the cultures they brought with them, and the connections between past and modern immigration. The workshop will equip teachers to deliver ND Studies curriculum, conduct National History Day competitions in schools, and effectively teach with primary resources.
