Content and activities for North Dakota: People Living on the Land has been written to include hundreds of primary source documents from various archives and libraries in North Dakota, especially the State Historical Society of North Dakota.  

North Dakota: People Living on the Land helps to fulfill the requirement that “Each North Dakota public and nonpublic elementary and middle school shall provide to students instruction in North Dakota Studies, with an emphasis on the geography, history, and agriculture of the state, in the fourth and eighth grades.”  (NDCC 15.1-21-01)

In addition, all content and activities have been created to align with North Dakota Social Studies Content and Achievement Standards for Grade 8 as outlined by the North Dakota Department of Public Instruction.
