Convergent Lady Beetle
STATE INSECT. In 2011, the Legislative Assembly named the ladybug (Convergent Lady Beetle) as the official state insect. Ladybugs help farmers and gardeners by eating aphids, mites, and other pests. They are not harmful to humans or crops, and are important to the state’s agriculture industry. The idea of naming the ladybug the official state insect came from Kenmare elementary students.
